Full Speech from Chief Richard Currie in the Cannabis fields of Accompong, Cockpit Country.
As the world move towards legalization of the recreational and medical ganja industry, Chief Richard Currie on April 20, 2021, 4/20/2021, 4/20 declared the State open for business where the herbs is concerned. In a field of green herbs with the herb in hands, Chief Currie articulated his policy of moving forward with open arms to the world.
Jamaica decriminalized marijuana in 2015, with Rastafarians being able to use marijuana for religious observation(sacrament). “The passage of this legislation does not create a free-for-all in the growing, transporting, dealing or exporting of ganja. The security forces will continue to rigorously enforce Jamaican law consistent with our international treaty obligations,” then minister of national security said in parliament.
New York state recently became the fifteenth state in the USA to legalise recreational cannabis. The state’s governor wrote on twitter – I just signed legislation legalizing adult-use cannabis. The bill creates automatic expungement of previous marijuana convictions that would now be legal. This is a historic day. I thank the Leader and Speaker and the tireless advocacy of so many.
The mountainous region of the Cockpit Country is a unique area for growing herbs with approximately
71 plant species whose global ranges are restricted entirely to the geographic area.
