Several women from the Maroon community of Accompong were trained as Officers to assist in disasters and as First Aiders.
The team consist of Margaret Durrant, Coleen Hutchinson, Steffanny Johnson, Toni-Shae Palmer and Taneisha Rowe. The ladies underwent two weeks of training in Disaster Risk Preparedness and Emergency management.
In the event of extreme weather challenges such as hurricanes, earthquakes and fire, the Officers and First Aiders will be able to assist with life-saving procedures.
