As ego and desperation rise, what will become of truthfulness?
What of those who choose to bring solutions, when will they awake from their sleep and slumber?
Empires and governments rise and fall. Democracy allows for the peaceful transfer of power. But when leaders become engulfed by their egos, when they believe they were chosen by god and to serve forever, recent historical evidence shows that democratically elected leaders will do whatever in their means to usurp the democratic process. Democracy includes truthful news reporting, should it include fake news?
Countries with well established lawful constitutions such as Jamaica and the United States of America are governed by democratically elected leaders. When elections are held, conducted freely and fairly it is in no way a guarantee that those elected will abide by the same principles that got them in the seat of power. Tyrannical, egotistic leaders attempt to find ways and means to cast veils over the eyes of people. In these modern times of social media and quick dispensing of information a day in politics and news remains a very long time.
When leaders become desperate, when their advisors become fearful, terrified of losing power, again recent history proves they plan desperate unlawful events to pull veil over the eyes of the people firstly by using fake news, then by some chaotic event.
The quick communication age of the internet coupled with social media can be a tool used by autocrats to rule day by day. But it is also a tool that is being used for the good of nations and it’s people to hold accountable those mad men who become intoxicated, paranoid, fearful and desperate.
The work of securing a lawful, accountable and transparent society must go on.
Fake news, threats to the truthful reporting of the facts as they are, are temporary. History proves that when empires and governments become tyrannical, when leaders deceive, eventually they fall disgracefully.
Truth will always rise.
