Mario Ramdial Captures Supporting Actor Award at 35th Actor Boy Awards

Kingston, Jamaica — Jamaican theatre performer Mario Ramdial celebrated a landmark achievement on Monday night, winning the Actor in a Supporting Role award at the 35th Actor Boy Awards held at the PBCJ Auditorium.

Ramdial earned the prestigious honour for his performance in Alice, a production by the Jamaica Musical Theatre Company (JMTC), which emerged as one of the standout productions of the 2026 awards season.

Facing strong competition from fellow nominees David Crosgill (Boopsie’s Homecoming), Dean Smith, Khumar McHugh, and Ricardo Anderson (Ded leff), Ramdial’s performance ultimately secured the judges’ vote in one of the evening’s most closely watched categories.

In an emotional acceptance speech, Ramdial began by thanking Jesus Christ for the blessings, gifts, and wisdom that made the achievement possible. He then acknowledged the individuals who played key roles in his journey, including director Brian Johnson, Kyle Gooden, and Desmond Dennis.

The award-winning actor also expressed gratitude to the production team, cast, crew, and the wider JMTC family for their support and dedication throughout the production. He further thanked the Actor Boy Awards organisation for recognising his talent and contribution to Jamaican theatre.

Hosted by acclaimed actress Shantol Jackson, the ceremony celebrated excellence across Jamaica’s performing arts sector. Throughout the evening, Alice and Ded leff emerged as major contenders, showcasing the depth of local theatrical talent.

For Ramdial, the award represents both personal and professional recognition, marking a significant milestone in his career and reinforcing his growing reputation within Jamaica’s theatre community.

As he concluded his remarks, Ramdial thanked the audience before leaving the stage to warm applause, with hosts commending his words before proceeding with the remainder of the awards ceremony.
