Chief Currie who was elected leader of the Trelawny Town Accompong Maroons in February stated his intention of bringing potable water into the homes of maroons.
Chief Currie launched a gofundme account https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-accompong that gives maroons and friends of maroons the opportunity to contribute to the project.
The Cockpit Country, under the jurisdiction of the maroons, is capable of supplying maroons and the island of Jamaica with potable water. However at times the water resource comes under threat from miners who continuously trespass on maroon lands.
If the water resources of the Cockpit Country is damaged this can put the entire human population of the land at risk of starvation. Water from the Cockpit Country aid in farming and replenishing what may be the largest rain forests in the Caribbean region.
